Reply with quote | #2 | I think I'd be shot down if I fully answered that. I'm liberal by nature and upbringing, but I think that a lot of brainwashing goes on in regard to the BNP from all the other parties, to the extend that every John Doe believes without question that the BNP are racist and vulgar, though he probably won't be able to give adequate justification, and if he did, the source would probably be undemocratically planted and slanderous. Obviously I'm not racist etc but I've got some major issues with our political situation and society, and I think there are a few policies of the BNP which could improve things.
As to having Nick Griffin on Question Time, I think it would be ludicrous not to allow him on; regardless of controversy, any reasonably established and serious party should be allowed to be on Question Time or any such similar programme. Many times, interviews with Nick Griffin have been shown where he's not been given the chance to respond to serious allegations, or quotes have been taken totally out of context and manipulated for bad effect. I'm not saying that I totally agree with Nick Griffin on all his policies and support him etc by any means, but I think people should take a step back from the preconceived extreme notion of the party, and also think where any information comes from, who's behind it and what's in it for them. There's no "free-media", except perhaps the internet; the rest needs to be taken very carefully.

Reply with quote | #4 | Well no, it's nothing like that. For all I find the BNP odious, cretinous, racist and just flat out wrong, they don't advocate concentration camps, they don't want to starve all the Jews, and they don't want to burn all the books they disagree with. They are, for all it entails, a legal political party. Putting them up there for everyone to laugh at is the best way to deal with their nauseating bile. __________________ http://www.aiden-wylie.blogspot.com |

Reply with quote | #6 | I feel bad sticking up for Mr Griffin, but he's not (apparently of course) a holocaust denier. He used to be, in the main part. Obviously it seems ludicrous deny something through mere ignorance; it's like saying "the world is flat, because it looks like that to me, and I haven't seen anything to believe otherwise", but, still, this view is not openly held by him any more. They certainly did used to be an explicity racist party, with the founder John Tyndall proclaiming that "Mein Kampf is my bible", but since Griffin took over the inherent racism has been removed. There are certainly racists in the party - there a bound to be - and there are various policies which I downright disagree with and think are totally wrong and unethical, but I think some policies of theirs are good, on the economy, housing etc and a little on migration among others. I wouldn't want them in power, but something needs to been done to shake up the current political situation and hopefully improve things. |
